Quote of the day.

“Real misanthropes are not found in solitude, but in the world; since it is experience of life, and not philosophy, which produces real hatred of mankind"

  1. I find misanthropy a strange thing. Human beings are frustrating creatures at times, occasionally digusting, but I have found so much love and encouragement and laughter and generosity in so many people in my life that I can't fathom actually HATING them, hate is such a strong word..... maybe I'm just being very naive, and I like to see the best in people... hmmmmm.

  2. but it is also experience of life that can produce real love of mankind. what initiates the different journeys? anyway, glad to see you back. you are not really a misanthrope, because au fond you do not hate yourself. you are simply exploring the stance, the persona. i will check back with you in forty years ...

  3. it is not mankind that is to be loved or hated: it is far too vast and complex--it is neutral, indifferent, like nature. IT IS PEOPLE WHO ARE TO BE LOVED AND HATED...
